Goal
Refurbish the Middle Park Health Wellness Center gymnasium in Kremmling, CO to provide the space and time to fulfill the recreational and development needs of the community, provide opportunities for new programs, and alleviate the high demand for the two school-run gyms in Kremmling, Colorado. Overall resulting in an increase in the physical and mental health of the Kremmling community across all demographics.
Providing a platform for a physically and mentally healthier community.
In a survey conducted in Kremmling, 98% of respondents expressed the need for a gymnasium. Although there are already two school gymnasiums in the area, they are unable to cater to both the public and the students' needs. Parents highlighted the importance of children's and youth programs, such as gymnastics, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Meanwhile, students and young people yearn for a space to engage in basketball and volleyball during their free time. Adults stressed the need for extracurricular adult leagues, while the elderly seek indoor space to engage in healthy activities and maintain their independence.
Work to be Done
The gym is nearly in a state of disrepair, and the problems are numerous. The previous owner sold half of the floor, but there's much more to be done. The showers, bathrooms, and locker rooms are all in need of remodeling, including plumbing and heating. The roof is leaky and requires repair, along with updating the exits, installing proper water dispensers, updating the lighting, and installing new windows. Additionally, new bleachers and equipment are required to improve the gym's functionality. The list of necessary upgrades is extensive.
Progress
The project is ready to be executed as all plans and designs have been finalized and hazardous materials have been identified and removed. Once the necessary funds have been raised, we will move forward with the permitting application process and begin the renovation.
Vision After Renovation
The gymnasium will function as an extension of the Middle Park Health Wellness Center, with the same operating principles. We understand that it is crucial to maintain affordable admission fees to cover the cost of basic maintenance. The Wellness Center director will collaborate with the community and Middle Park Health to organize programs that align with community interests and needs, many already in progress.
Your Help is Needed
Middle Park Medical Foundation is embarking on a capital campaign to bring this gym back to life to serve the Kremmling community so they can get the space they need and deserve. This will be done with a mix of grant funding and community support.
